Time for a Five Minute Friday Post. Yep it’s been a while but today, of all days this word sets the stage for the memories many vividly remember, RESCUE! Let’s go on FIVE minutes to write and then share with the group and Kate Motaung.
“Turn the TV on now!!!!” The voice on the other end of the phone exclaimed. “A plane just flew into one of the Twin Towers in New York and has exploded!”
It was 9:05 on September 11th 2001. In sheer disbelief I ran for the TV remote as my husband directed. Unbelievable horror blanketed the screen on evey channel from one to a hundred. Suddenly my husband burst in as we watched a plane fly into the second tower! People running. People screaming. Smoke ingulfing the air! With two planes that headed directly for the towers, this was no accident. The United States was under attack!
A day, a time in history for those who lived it they will always remember. The day or horror and disbelief as we remained glued to our televisions to watch as many fled from the explosions, the gulf of flames that seemed to keep exploding before our eyes as clouds of smoke engulfed the air.
The streams of people covered with ashes and soot running for cover. Firemen, police, ambulances, firetrucks crowded the street while heading directly for the blast to RESCUE all they could. Fear gripped our nation as another plane at 9:45 circled Washington DC then crashed into the United States Pentagon. Lord help us. What in the world is happening to our country?
The horror and images of that day never seemed to end. Day after day the world watched as pictures of loved ones were added to the wall of those whose lives were lost that day. 2,983 innocent people lost their lives in this horiffic tragedy as loved ones left behind mourned with a whole in their heart that would last forever.
So today, twenty years to the day later, we can easily recall right where we were. Just what we were doing as the news broke and how our hearts sunk. But today let us never forger. Let us never let our guard down. No, we do not want to ever see this again. But with the day by day happenings of our government and all that has taken place, we are not in a safe place. therefore, let us remain vigilant to pray. Number one to pray for all who are left behind. For those so lost loved ones on that day… And number two, let us remain sensitive to the Holy Spirit to hear His warnings and to pray. May we NEVER have to RESCUE beloved Americans from such a tragedy as 911 again!
Thanks so much for stopping bye. In honor of this day, my brother Tony wrote this song and put it to music. May you recollect your memories of this day as you listen. Click on to play!!
