Are You Ready?

It’s time for Five Minute Friday! Yep I have been away for a while but today’s word confirms what was on my mind today, so, here we go. Five Minute Friday is a group of writers who are given one prompt word and then write a message off that word. Today’s word is COMPERMISE.

So, this is how my morning began:

6:00 AM Me: “Lovey what are you doing awake so early?”

Lovey: (what I call my husband) “Looking for batteries.”

Me: “For what? “I asked. “Do you know what time it is?”

Lovey: “The power is out! I don’t know how long it’s been out, but I woke up and — no lights.”

Me:” Great! Let’s get out the candles, flashlights, and whatever we can find to get some light in here.”

Sound like a typical morning at your house? I hope not. But prayerfully we did have enough flashlights, battery operated candles and even enough batteries in our emergency drawer to light the way.

What would you do? Would you be prepared to wake up and find yourself in darkness? The question I ask is a two-sided question. Yes, for a physical sudden darkness if the power would go out, but what about Spiritual darkness?

Are you walking in the light? Jesus says to us that He is the light and whoever follows Him will not walk in darkness.

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”

John 8 :12-13

With everything unraveling around us, there has never been such a time to wake up. A time to ask ourselves, “If I were to meet my maker, where would I go?” Do you believe that Jesus is the light of the world and those who follow Him will never walk in darkness?

The crazy part was when I went in the closet, it was pitch black and I tripped on my suitcase. Until we found the flashlights and our favorite lantern, we both were just fumbling around aimlessly in the dark. What a difference when finally got the batteries in our camping-size lantern and placed it on the center of the table! Yay! –. Our entire condo was lit up. No need for all the other candles and flashlight, the lantern exuberated enough light on its own.

My friend, that’s how Jesus is. Once you know who He is. Once you ask Him to become Lord of your life, He will be all you will need. He will prepare the way for today, tomorrow and always.

Have you asked Jesus into your heart? Are you willing to allow Him to come in today and lead your way, or — will you continue to COMPERMISE with the ways of the world and put Him off? Remember, God is in control. Time may be short. The bottom line is that we must know for sure if the lights may go out in our lives today, we will be assured where we will go. If Jesus is calling you today, I urge you to take a minute, call upon His name, confess you are a sinner, and ask Him to come in and be the Lord of your life.

Don’t stay in the darkness, but in the presence of the Lord. Be assured that you will live and reign in the presence of the Lord in the eternal light of His glory!
